Chedabucto Bay is located on the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia. It lies between the southern shore of Cape Breton Island and the very easternmost point of mainland Nova Scotia. There's nothing but sea until you reach Europe when you leave there.
We like kids on Chedabucto Bay. It is Nova Scotia's largest bay on the coast with more than 600 kilometres of shoreline which makes it pretty cool. That's 375 miles of shoreline.
Everyone likes whales and the Bay has lots of them - fin, minke pothead & belugas. There are lots of bald eagles. And Osprey's too. Did you know an Osprey can dive 10 stories to catch a fish? There's even a family of foxes that live under the 5th hole green at
Osprey Shores Golf Resort. You might find a harbour seal sunning himself on the marina dock in front of the
Rare Bird Pub & Eatery.
Enough on the animals. Did you know the first leg of the Trans Canada Trail in Nova Scotia starts at Chedabucto Bay? And there is a barrens land with boulders of white granite dotting the landscape. Gulls, cormorants, herons, terns and the Common Eider like to nest here (we just can't stop talking about the wildlife). How about a drive to the top of the Lundy Fire Tower Trail?
Then there are the beaches. Lots of them. Some of the best in Nova Scotia. Tor Bay beach is wild. Port Shoreham Beach has the best beachcombing. And Black Duck Cove has some of the East Coast’s warmest waters for wading.
Where to stay? How about the oldest inn in Nova Scotia? Built in 1837 for a former Supreme Court Justice,
DesBarres Manor Inn is a beautiful inn in the village of Guysborough with a restaurant and acres of grounds. The Parlour Room has lots of games and puzzles after your return from a day of exploring. Or move in beside the foxes at
Osprey Shores Golf Resort, they have a nice 10 room lodge.
We could go on and on and on, but how about you just visit the
Authentic Seacoast website and see our list of more than 101 things to do when you visit beautiful Chedabucto Bay.
We hope to see you soon!
