TripFLIX

The journey's as fun as the destination

Information

Metropolis

Although Metropolis is more of a town than a bustling city, it's the "Home of Superman" nonetheless. The Illinois town features all things Man of Steel, from its jam-packed Supermuseum to the town's newspaper-the Daily Globe, of course!

Metropolis is a great place to swing through on a cross-county trip. All the Super-attractions enthrall the kids, and there's a good does of ourdoorsy fun as well.

The Superman Statue is hard to miss in Superman Square, and the Super Museum is right there on the corner of the Square. The Kryptonite rock was a littler harder to spot, but you can find it on the corner of Third and Ferry Streets. The Daily Planet was also nestled away off the main drag on Fifth and Ferry Streets, and the big Super-mural we shot in front of was on rt 45 as you enter Metropolis.

Non-Super attractions in Metropolis that we saw included the Harrah's floating casino on the riverfront at Ferry Street, and Fort Massac State Park just east of town.

Although we didn't get there, we were told that there were some great farms, orchards, and wineries in the area with lots of activities for kids.
